The global Microsoft partner joins the vanguard of AI-first businesses – with adoption up 2,634%, AI in daily use across every department, and its own purpose-built platform, ZAI, handing more than 3,120 hours of work back to its people.
Zenzero Solutions Ltd, one of the UK’s fastest-growing managed IT and Microsoft partners, today announced it has achieved Microsoft Frontier Firm status – placing it among an emerging class of organisations that have moved beyond experimenting with artificial intelligence to running their business on it.
At the heart of that transformation is ZAI (Zenzero AI) – an AI platform Zenzero designed and built in-house, now used across every team in the business and embedded into the daily flow of work across more than 20 departments, automating hundreds of routine tasks, with a governance framework in place to do it all safely.
By proving AI on itself first, Zenzero has become its own “Customer Zero”: The result: quicker process execution, rapid service resolution, and thousands of hours returned to its people – the very outcomes Zenzero now delivers for its customers under its Frontier Firm adoption framework.
What is a Microsoft Frontier Firm?
“Frontier Firm” is the term Microsoft coined in its 2025 Work Trend Index – a global study of 31,000 people across 31 countries, backed by trillions of Microsoft 365 productivity signals. Microsoft describes a Frontier Firm as a new kind of organisation: one powered by “intelligence on tap,” built around hybrid teams of humans and AI agents, where every employee takes on a new role as an “agent boss.” In Microsoft’s words, these are companies with organisation-wide AI deployment, that lead in actively investing in AI, and that measure the return on it.
The payoff is real: Microsoft found that 71% of workers at Frontier Firms say their company is thriving, compared with just 37% globally. Microsoft expects every organisation to begin this journey within the next two to five years – across three phases, from AI as a personal assistant, to AI agents working as “digital colleagues,” to humans directing agents that run entire workflows.
The benchmark for a Frontier Firm is demanding. It looks for organisations that have deployed AI organisation-wide, that see themselves as leaders actively investing in AI, and -crucially – that measure the return on those investments. Microsoft’s guidance for partners adds a fourth, defining test: “Customer Zero” maturity – adopting AI inside your own business first, so the credibility you bring to customers is earned, not claimed.
Meet ZAI – the AI we built ourselves
ZAI is Zenzero’s own, in-house AI platform – developed specifically to help its people do more, by orchestrating and automating the common tasks that fill a working day.
It augments people rather than replacing them.
To give one example of – Within Managed support and ticket triage, ZAI reads a support ticket, summarises the request, suggests the best-matched technician by skill, availability and history, points to the right knowledge-base article, and offers a ready-made automation to resolve it.
Crucially, a human is always in control. ZAI never changes a customer system on its own – a member of staff sets each workflow running, and every automation is peer-reviewed before it can be used.
That human-led, agent-powered model is exactly what Microsoft means by a Frontier Firm, and it is how Zenzero has run 30,408 ticket triages and 257 automated workflows so far in 2026, saving 187,229 minutes – more than 3,120 hours, the equivalent of over 400 working days.
ZAI is built for trust from the ground up:
-
- UK-hosted and self-contained. All AI processing runs inside Zenzero’s own UK Azure tenant – no customer data is ever sent to public AI services.
-
- Least-privilege by design. ZAI connects to a customer’s Microsoft 365 through a dedicated enterprise app and GDAP, with specific, time-limited roles – replacing “always-on, full access” with controlled, audited, minimal access.
-
- Fully auditable. Every execution is logged – who triggered it, what it did, and whether it succeeded – with timestamped records for audit and investigation.
-
- Independently assured. ZAI has been penetration-tested by Zensec and built within Zenzero’s ISO 27001, ISO 20000-1, ISO 9001 and Cyber Essentials Plus frameworks, with RBAC, SSO and MFA throughout.
How Zenzero earned it: Journey by numbers
Zenzero didn’t wait for the future to arrive. Over the reporting period, AI adoption across the business grew 2,634% – a step-change that far outpaced every other shift in how the company works. Today, people use AI as part of their everyday job, generating nearly 20,000 business queries, with 78% of all AI use tied directly to real work rather than experimentation.
Behind the scenes, Zenzero’s automation has quietly transformed service operations. In 2026 it has handled 30,408 service-desk triages and run 257 automated workflows, saving 187,229 minutes – more than 3,120 hours, the equivalent of over 400 working days – at an effectiveness multiplier of 1,088.5x.
Real work, measurably faster
The numbers translate into tangible wins across the business:
-
- Presales, reinvented. The estimate-to-statement-of-work cycle – once a multi-day manual process – now runs in a single working session, cutting turnaround from 3 days to 1.
-
- Polished deliverables in a fraction of the time. Information Architecture reports that took five days are now produced in one – an 80% reduction in elapsed time.
-
- Client reporting at the press of a button. Governance data is transformed into professional, client-ready reports around 60% faster than before.
Customer Zero – from our own business to yours
Everything Zenzero has learned becoming a Frontier Firm becomes a prescriptive playbook for its customers. Having deployed AI organisation-wide, governed it safely and measured the return, Zenzero can show you – not just tell – how to do the same. It’s the credibility that comes from being Customer Zero: proven internally, ready for clients. It also lays the foundation for the next milestone – becoming a Microsoft-recognised Frontier Partner, the designation for partners certified to help other organisations make the same leap.
In their words
“Becoming a Frontier Firm isn’t just a badge – it’s how we work. We put Copilot, Cowork, and ZAI to work inside our own business first, measured every minute they gave back, and wrapped in the governance to do it safely. That same playbook is exactly what we now bring to our customers.”
— Dominic Lloyd, Head of Microsoft Partner Relations, Zenzero
“Zenzero’s AI Adoption is baked in, and lifts the repetitive load off our people so they can focus on what really matters. It isn’t a tool bolted on the side – it’s reshaping how we deliver, ticket by ticket and workflow by workflow, every single day.”
— Wayde Finch, Executive Director, DDS, Zenzero
