Commitment to achieving Net Zero

Zenzero is committed to achieving Net Zero emissions in 2027.

Baseline Emissions Footprint

Baseline emissions are a record of the greenhouse gases that have been produced in the past and were produced prior to the introduction of any strategies to reduce emissions. Baseline emissions are the reference point against which emissions reduction can be measured.

Baseline Year: 2024/25
Additional Details relating to the Baseline Emissions calculations
This is Zenzero’s first Carbon Reduction Plan. Subsequently, the baseline and current reporting period are the same.
Baseline year emissions:
EMISSIONS TOTAL (tCO2e)
Scope 1 15.64
Scope 2 61.89
Scope 3 (Included Sources) 487.29 (Waste, Business Travel, Employee Commuting)
Total Emissions 564.83

Emissions reduction targets

The following graph projects our required emissions targets to achieve our ambitious goal of net zero emissions in 2027.

Starting with our annual baseline from reporting year 2024/25 of 564.83 tCO2e, we plan to achieve a 33% reduction in 2025/26 to 376.55. This will be followed by a 50% reduction (another 33% from baseline) to 188.58 2026/27, and finally a 100% total reduction to net zero emissions in 2027.

Completed Carbon Reduction Initiatives

To help achieve net zero emissions by 2027, we have already implemented an electric vehicle salary sacrifice scheme, incentivising staff to drive electric vehicles, rather than petrol or diesel. The 10,000 miles of our business travel covered by battery electric and hybrid vehicles produces fewer emissions than using entirely petrol or diesel engines.

We have also implemented bike-to-work schemes, which save an average of 0.50 tCO2e per person, as well as hybrid working policies to minimise emissions from commuting. Approximately half of our offices also have LED lighting on motion sensors to keep electricity usage down and save energy.

We have also begun reducing our emissions through work with various partners and schemes, such as offsetting our carbon output through Ecologi. By supporting wind farms in South Africa and Vietnam, we have already offset 85 tCO2e. We have also signed up to the Tech Zero pledges, which include:

  • Annually measuring and publishing greenhouse gas emissions.
  • Appointing a member of our team to be responsible for our net zero target.
  • Aligning our policies and partnerships with our net zero goals.

We also became a recognised B Corporation in September 2024. To ensure that we meet the requirements of this status, we use Power BI dashboards to track our emissions and review our Environmental Policy every six months.

Beyond our own commitments, we also assist our clients in choosing cloud-first and other energy-saving technologies, helping them to reduce emissions from their own technology solutions.

Future Carbon Reduction Initiatives

During the period 2025-2027, we plan to implement further measures, such as:

  • Bringing all of our offices onto 100% renewable energy contracts.
  • Making our fleet of company vehicles entirely electric.
  • Bringing in training programmes to help our staff make greener choices day to day.

We also plan to continue a robust programme of purchasing offsets for our emissions.

Declaration and Sign Off

This Carbon Reduction Plan has been completed in accordance with PPN 06/21 and associated guidance and reporting standard for Carbon Reduction Plans.

Emissions have been reported and recorded in accordance with the published reporting standard for Carbon Reduction Plans and the GHG Reporting Protocol corporate standard (1) and uses the appropriate Government emission conversion factors for greenhouse gas company reporting (2).

Scope 1 and Scope 2 emissions have been reported in accordance with SECR requirements, and the required subset of Scope 3 emissions have been reported in accordance with the published reporting standard for Carbon Reduction Plans and the Corporate Value Chain (Scope 3) Standard (3).

This Carbon Reduction Plan has been reviewed and signed off by the board of directors (or equivalent management body).
