Want to maximise your iPhone battery?

As the launch of the iPhone 15 draws nearer, there's been a lot of talk about the iPhone battery. Some users have noticed a significant drop in the battery capacity of their iPhone 14 at the beginning of August, which reminds us of Apple's previous 'Batterygate' settlement for iPhone 6 models.

While some iPhone users continue to report battery drain and heat issues, most iPhone battery issues can be prevented by taking a few simple steps - use "optimised charging," avoid overheating your iPhone and don't let the battery fully drain.

Although a few iPhone users are still experiencing battery drain and heat problems, most iPhone battery issues can be prevented by following a few simple steps. These include using 'optimised charging,' avoiding overheating your iPhone, and not letting the battery drain completely.

However, in addition to these best practices for preserving iPhone battery life, there are several battery-saving tips for iOS 16 that can help extend your iPhone's battery life. Here's what you need to know.

Remove widgets from your lock screen

All the widgets on your lock screen force your apps to run in the background. They fetch data to update the information displayed by the widgets, such as sports scores or the weather. This continuous background activity drains your device's battery power.

To help preserve battery life on iOS 16, the simplest solution is to avoid using widgets on your lock screen (and home screen). You can easily switch to a different lock screen profile by pressing your finger on the current lock screen and swiping to choose a profile without any widgets.

If you prefer to remove widgets from your current lock screen instead, follow these steps: press down on your lock screen, select the Customise option, choose the Lock Screen option, tap on the widget box, and then press the '-' button on each widget to remove them.

Turn off haptic keyboard feedback

Surprisingly, the iPhone keyboard has never had the ability to vibrate as you type. This feature, known as haptic feedback, was recently added in iOS 16. Instead of just hearing click-clack sounds, haptic feedback provides a more immersive experience by giving each key a vibration. However, Apple has stated that this feature may also have an impact on battery life.

According to an Apple support page about the keyboard, haptic feedback "might affect the battery life of your iPhone." No specific details are provided regarding how much battery life the keyboard feature consumes. If you want to conserve battery, it is recommended to keep this feature disabled.

Fortunately, haptic feedback is not enabled by default. If you have enabled it yourself, you can easily turn it off by going to Settings > Sounds & Haptics > Keyboard Feedback and toggling off Haptic.
